This is the announcement that I know a lot of you have been waiting for… 1.21 is officially coming to TogetherCraft! The wait is finally over, and we can now prepare to update to 1.21. I know we are all very excited for the Breeze, Bogged, Trial Chambers, Mace, Crafter, Tuff Blocks, and so much more! We also have some exciting features we shall be adding ourselves! I would like to thank everyone for their patience. Just like you, I am very excited for the new items, mobs, and blocks.

What happens now?

On Monday 19th August at 10am UTC the network will go into maintenance mode, until Thursday 22nd August 7pm UTC. We shall keep you updated along the way! We shall be updating not only the survival server, but the lobby, hardcore, adventure and creative servers too.

Why can’t we play straight away?

When we update to 1.21, we will need to update all of the plugins and ensure that there are no bugs or glitches. You have to remember, that our world isn’t a “vanilla” world. The last thing we want is double barrels, and players vaults or ender chests to be empty! This time will also enable us to prepare the exciting extras we have planned for 1.21.

Will the world be reset?

NO! NO. NO. NOOOOOOOOO. The world, and everything you have created shall be just as you left it. We are not resetting our world. We love this world, and all the fantastic things we have built together. Any old chunks which haven’t been explored will be updated to 1.21 magically. Many of you may know this process as “trimming”. We shall trim the unused chunks within the world, and update them to 1.21. We can keep our awesome builds, our homes, our loot, and still have the awesome fun that 1.21 shall bring!

Why will the update take so long?

Our Survival world is HUGE! In fact, it is 370gb huge. This usually take 10 – 12 hours to download, before I can actually start trimming the world. Once trimmed, I then need to upload it and pre generate all the chunks so we have no lag. In addition to all of this fun stuff, I then need to update all of the servers, plugins, and include some new additions.

What will I do with my spare time?

I know it sucks being away from TogetherCraft! And, I guess I might miss some of you for a few days…. This update time will give you the chance to say hello to your friends, and family. Watch some films, and take time for yourself! So relax, and rest well to have sleepless nights exploring the new Trial Chambers with friends!
